Global medical technology OEM contracts Meddux to conduct manufacturing analysis and apply critical parameter management approach for product quality optimization.
A global market leader in medical devices for cardiovascular procedures recognized the benefits of an independent manufacturing analysis of their product portfolio. Seeking to enhance their competitive position and accelerate innovation, the customer required an experienced design and manufacturing partner who could provide objective evaluation and strategic design-for-manufacturing recommendations across multiple distinct product lines — ranging from established market offerings to products approaching commercial launch. They sought an outside partner to deliver new insights and comprehensive DFM guidance to strengthen their cardiac surgery portfolio.

Meddux's unique Critical Parameter Management (CPM) approach, including quality assessment, manufacturing line evaluation, and tolerance analysis enabled our team to identify critical process controls and inspection plan optimization for existing product lines. Through detailed evaluation of critical-to-function parameters and process control assessments, the team successfully adapted critical parameter management processes originally designed for new product introduction to address complex manufacturing challenges.
The initial analysis phase encompassed systematic tolerance and engineering analysis across multiple product lines, process capability assessment of production data, and development of lifecycle management strategies. This included identification of critical device features which can inform updates throughout a product's lifecycle from creation through maturity.
This phase culminated in the successful delivery of detailed recommendations tailored across the range of the manufacturing process, from upstream supply chain to in-house assembly operations to final QC inspections. Meddux's CPM documentation provided clear alignment of top-level functional requirements to material, component, assembly process, and to finished good quality attributes to ensure ongoing product conformance.
Meddux delivered comprehensive design-for-manufacturing recommendations, providing actionable insights to enhance existing product lines. The team conducted critical parameter mapping linked to product requirements, identifying strategic control options for improved quality management and cost reduction. Meddux performed tolerance and engineering analysis focused on evaluating critical-to-function device attributes. This evaluation revealed strategic opportunities for design optimization across several product lines.
